A fire engine. The way to know it is a fire engine is by the E5 or ME5 on it. ME5 equals a Medic Engine 5. About half of the fire engines from the Salt Lake City carry paramedics for Advanced Life Support of medical patients. If the vehicle only has an “E” that means it is an engine and the crew is also trained as EMTs.
A heavy rescue vehicle. This vehicle doesn't have a pump or ladders and it is the only unit of its kind in Salt Lake City. It carries technical rescue equipment.
A ladder truck. Ladder trucks have the visible ladder, along with several ground ladders inside and other tools that are centered around rescue work and all of the non-hose work that occurs on a fire scene.
